Words of Gratitude

It is one of my greatest pleasures to present and dedicate this book to the community of students and their teachers, engaged in study and teaching of science in general and physics in particular, at introductory 10+2 level for board examination as well as various competitive examinations like IIT JEE, AIEEE, CBSE PMT, AIIMS Entrance etc. It will be unfair to say that, I wrote this book. This book has evolved in its own natural way. Obviously my own successful preparation for entrance examinations and days as student at IT BHU, was helpful but two decades of teaching experience with students helped me more. With changing time, the requirement of students, their demands, responses and feedback have shaped this book. This book has gradually evolved over the last ten years. In its earliest phase it was just five sets of questions, in the next phase the missing gaps for questions were bridged for continuity. In the last phase, student's feedback and demand for theory materials encouraged me once again to prepare a simple unified approach to introductory physics. I take this opportunity to thank all my students for their contribution of ideas, their ignorance and even their reluctance to accept and offer fresh opinion. Difficulty of students to understand complex ideas in physics was the driving force for organizing this book in sequential and integrated form.

I would like to thank my students, who pointed out errors in theory and questions presented in this book. Efforts of Amarnath, Arvind, Manoj, Vandana, Dileep and Kanhaiya in careful recording of errors, is beyond words to express. I am also thankful to Saksham for his disregard for mediocrity and courage to brand a question worthless. Even unexpected some times, such comments provide the counter view, necessary for equilibrium. My own team members Bhai Shyamji and Banshi deserve special thanks for their invaluable assistance. My colleagues at Unique Tutorials Bishwajeet, Rajeev, Ravindra and Umapati provided the right stimulus. I am thankful to Mr Anil Kumar Singh for his diligence in checking the solved examples. Above all, I am thankful to authors of various books on science and technology, I was fortunate enough to study and which helped me organize my own ideas.

If I do not express my gratitude to my family and friends, who tolerated my absence on important occasions and were understanding enough to excuse me, it will be unfair. I strongly believe that there is no scope for excuses and acknowledgements among friends but still I request Arunji to accept my thanks on behalf of our families and friends.
